Winter in Waidring is usually spent enjoying sporting activities. However, for the non-skier or for those who simply whish to relax and unwind, the mountain village of Waidring also offers a great many alternatives. Ice skating

Ice skating in Pillersee Valley. Gliding across the ice of a lake nestled in a charming Pillersee Valley. That is what ice skating here is like at the ice skating rink at the campsite at the foot of the Steinplatte Massif. Enjoy the bracing winter mountain air. You’ feel as if you are part of an enchanting fairytale.

Cross-Country Skiing

Cross-Country Skiing in the Pillersee Valley. The Pillersee Valley is renowned throughout the continent as a Biathlon Centre. It’s therefore no surprise that every many winter cross-country skiers arrive in the snow-covered mountain village of Waidring. The cross-country trails are just 50 metres away making the Hotel Tiroler Adler the  perfect starting point for a day on the trails. More than 120 kilometres of freshly prepared trails are at your disposal and you also have access to the Wilder Kaiser cross-country skiing trail network. Our hotel guests have of course free use of the cross-country skiing trails, simply ask at the reception for a trail pass.

Skiing

Skiing in the Pillersee Valley. The free shuttle bus and the most modern chairlifts and gonollas guarantee minimal waiting time and a speedy start to the day’s skiing pleasure. The ski arena “3 Länder Freizeit-Arena” offers runs for all levels of skier. From real beginners to expert skiers there are numerous and perfectly prepared pistes to choose from. The well signposted runs and state of the art snow making equipment ensure pure skiing enjoyment from the middle of December until well after Easter. Gone are the days when you had to queue for your ski pass! You get your ski pass comfortably at the reception.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides

A short ride that makes a long-lasting impression. Who has never dreamt of riding in a horse-drawn sleigh through a snow-covered mountain landscape wrapped up in a fluffy warm blanket? In the mountain village of Waidring your dream can come true: you can enjoy a romantic sleigh ride for two or in a larger group of friends and get to know the most charming side of Waidring.

Winter Walks

Would you like to enjoy the enchanting winter landscape? Then the numerous cleared winter walking paths will let you do just that. Enjoy the glistening white meadows, snow-heavy trees and the woods dotted with rabbit prints.

Curling

A living Tyrolean tradition. There are two curling lanes in Waidring at your disposal. From the middle of December to Easter curling fun can be had almost every day. Right in the centre of the village the curling lane is a central meeting place for young and old. Even before tourism came to the region, curling was a traditional winter sport. It strengthens the team spirit and combines outdoor activity with Tyrolean hospitality. The famous Tyrolean charm and humour soon make winning or losing secondary – at the end of the day, regardless of the result, everyone is of the same opinion: It was an eventful and fun day in the romantic mountain village.

Tobogganing

Tobogganing fun in the Pillersee Valley. Tobogganing is an absolute must on your winter holiday and the Guesthouse “Alpengastof Oberweissbach” is the ideal starting point. At first you take a gentle winter walk through the snowy woods and meadows and then enjoy a well-earned mug of mulled wine to prepare you mentally for the thrilling toboggan run.  If you don’t fancy the walk to the top of the run, then the Alpengasthof Oberweissbach shuttle service will bring you comfortably to the start. Toboggans are available daily for rental and are regularly serviced. So have we whet your appetite for an exciting toboggan evening?

Snow-tubing

A new sort of winter fun! Slide down the slopes in an unusual but fun way and spend a few gregarious hours sliding down the slope on a rubber tube at the Brandtnerhof. You can have a go at this unusual way of sliding down the hill at any time throughout the day and it certainly offers a great deal of fun for everyone regardless of their age. The floodlit slopes of the winding snow-tubing runs are tucked under the steep rock face of the Lofer Steinberg Mountain and are sure to provide fond memories of the fun-packed action that is had.  

Snowboarding

On the trail of the Lords of the Boards. It goes without saying that the winter sport resort Waidring should cater for all types of winter sport enthusiasts: There’s certainly enough to keep the snowboarders happy on the Steinplatte.  The Snow Park was opened for the first time in the 2003/2004 winter season. Since then it has been continually improved and expanced, the daily care of the park and the exciting elements mean that the park is under the top ten parks in the European rankings. If you’d like to experience the “Lords of the Boards” event live, then staying in the Pillersee Valley Holiday Region is your chance to do just that. A free shuttle bus service to Fieberbrunn and the Schneewinkel ski pass give you access to the most important locations in the snowboard scene.
